SAL – Cirque des Triangles #4

Hello everyone, it’s time to post the regular 3-weekly update on my SAL project.  At the moment, I’m stitching “Cirque des Triangles”, an Ink Circles design by Tracey Horner and having lots of fun.  It’s a very relaxing project, being a monochrome, and it’s the variagated thread that does all the colour changes for me.

I am stitching with Threadworx “Wild Poppies” on a 27 count “Forest Green” Lugana evenweave.

Don’t forget to stop by and admire progress of other SAL members.  Avis, is working on the same CdesT design, but in totally different colours.  Other members are all working on a wonderful variety of projects:  Gun, Carole, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, SusanP, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, WendyLinda, Catherine, Mary Margaret and Timothy.

Next update on 14th May.

And here’s my progress thus far.  This is “Cirque des Triangles” an Ink Circles chart by Tracey Horner.  I’m loving this design and really enjoying seeing more triangles appear on my fabric.

SAL update #2 Cirque des Triangles

CdesT02

An update on the previous photo which looked like this

CdesT stage 01

Lighting for top photo isn’t brilliant, but you get the general idea.  This is how “Cirque des Triangles” looks for this SAL update.  Fabric is still forest green and thread is a lot more orange & vivid than it looks.  This design is by Tracey Horner for Ink Circles.

Don’t forget to stop by and admire progress of other SAL members.  Avis, is working on the same CdesT design, but in totally different colours.  Other ladies are all working on a wonderful variety of projects:  Gun, Carole, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, SusanP, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, WendyLinda, Catherine and we’ve just been joined by Mary Margaret.

And stop by, if you can, on April 2nd for our next update.

SAL update: Cirque des Triangles #1

cdest ready

For this SAL update, both Avis and I have begun a brand new project . . . an Ink Circles design by Tracey Horner:  Cirque des Triangles (hereafter to be called CdesT).  This will be the second “Cirque” we tackle together since we stitched Cirque des Cercles in 2014 and had lots of fun with that.  Nice thing about Ink Circles designs, is that you can really get creative with fabric and thread.

I’m stitching on a Forest Green 25 count Lugana evenweave, using 2 strands of Threadworx “Wild¨Poppies” (1072).  Threadworx skeins come in 25m lengths, which explains why there are only 4 skeins in the photo.  Should be more than enough.

Anyway, enough chat . . . here’s my progress for stage 1.

CdesT stage 01

We’ve started top left (after some careful measuring of fabric) and it’s plain sailing so far.

Don’t forget to pop over and see what other ladies in the SAL are working on.

And please do come back to check out progress on 12th March.

SAL update – Unicorn #13

I have a happy dance to share with you . . .

SAL unicorn finish 01

“Unicorn and Maiden” by Joan Elliott is officially finished – yay!  I didn’t quite follow all the backstitch detail; leaving off some metallic stitching on the bottom of gown and maiden’s floral wreath, but I think the seed beads give it enough bling.

I really enjoyed stitching this design, and thank SAL members for their encouragements throughout.  I couldn’t have done it without you.

A finish means a new start for next time . . . Avis and I started thinking about our next SAL project months ago, and are eager to begin.  We’ve decided to work on the same project again (which is how this SAL originally came about) and plumped for another Ink Circles.

CdesT sneak peek

We stitched “Cirque des Cercles” together, a few years ago and this time we’re going to stitch “Cirque des Triangles”.  You can see my “Cirque des Cercles” here, still not framed.  I’ve chosen to stitch CdesT in exactly the same colours.  Threadworx “Wild Poppies” on a 25 count Lugana Forest Green evenweave.

If anyone has “Cirque des Triangles” in their chart stash and fancies joining us – please contact Avis.  Or if anyone simply wants to join in with a different project – contact Avis who is our co-ordinator.

We are quite a large group of ladies, worldwide, working on different needlecraft projects, and showing updates every 3 weeks to keep us all motivated.

You can admire SAL members’ stitching by clicking on the following links.

Avis, Gun, Carole, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, SusanP, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, WendyLinda and Catherine.

Next SAL update will be on 19th February.

review of 2014

A very happy new year to you all.  I hope that 2015 will be a good one for you and wish you health, happiness and plenty of time for crafting ^^

It’s a stitcher’s tradition to start the year with a new project, but I’m breaking with tradition this year. I will no doubt be starting some new projects very soon, but not today.  Instead, I decided to do a review of 2014 in photos.

I have grouped pics together so as not to make this too photo-intensive.  First up . . . a medley of free designs by Lindashee that I stitched throughout the year.  You can find all of these designs on Lindashee’s blog. Her “four seasons” and a series of 9 little critters.

I also spent quite a few hours working on patchwork projects this year, with several sets of place mats and some bags ^^

And of course, more cross stitch, including some finishings of projects that were stitched in 2013 but only finished off in 2014 and some knitting.

I think “the plan” for 2015 will be to combine more cross stitch and patchwork – possibly more cushion covers over the coming year and most definitely some wall-hanging finishes.

“Cirque des Cercles” happy dance

Today is the day for a happy dance – the Ink Circles design I have been stitching since January is now a finished project.

It could have been stitched more quickly, but Avis of Sewing Beside the Sea and myself decided to work it as a SAL, with stages every 3 weeks.

We were joined along the way by other stitchers, who liked the idea of a SAL to motivate them continue with their various cross stitch projets – you can admire their stitching on their blogs.  There’s Gun of Rutigt; Jule of From the Boudoir and Kate of Tall Tales from Chiconia.

Time for photos ^^

I stitched on a dark green 27 count Lugana, using 2 stands over 2 of Threadworx “Wild Poppies”.  The finished design measures 49cm x 37cm.

Stay tuned to see what Avis and I are going to get up to next ^^

We have already chosen and bought copies of a new chart . . . now need to decide on our fabrics & threads.
