to talk about things scrappy!  I’ve been carrying on assembling 2.5″ squares.  I do love cutting small squares when tidying up my scraps, and at the moment, I’m assembling into placemat tops.  Haven’t used a table cloth in decades, but the husband and I like to have our dinner plates on a mat – it just makes the table look more “set”.

The current series now looks like this.

Six tops, all 9 x 6 squares, which will give a finished size of 18″ x 12″.  Quite a few fabrics make an appearance several times, but no two tops are the same.  They’re all completely random which I think makes for bright & cheerful.  Now to sandwich, quilt & bind!

    • it’s nice to have a variety of mats so I can just fling the dirty ones in the washing machine, open the drawer and pull out some clean ones.

  1. Lovely! Just a few months ago, when we were going to move, I sold the kitchen table along with other assorted pieces of furniture we don’t use. Anyway, we’ve decided not to replace. We usually end up eating on tray tables in front of the tv so we can see the news anyway. Maybe I need to make some placemats for them. Thanks for the idea! Your mats are so beautiful!

    • we haven’t used table cloths in years ^^ and yes these would be practical on tray too. Advantage – so easy to wash & drip dry, and they do make the table (or tray) look a little more civilised.
