Next update on 4th October.
Gosh you have been busy, it’s so pretty.
thank you ^^ this piece seems to be stitching itself at the moment. It’s like a plate of biscuits. I sit down just to stitch on one square or flower, and end up doing more ^^
Amazing progress, I am really interested to watch the process of your blackwork as it is a technique I have not tried.
thanks Deborah. If you click on the link you’ll find a whole vareity of free blackwork designs you can download if you fancy giving blackwork a try.
This looks really pretty. You have made a whole lot of progress. I like the change in color.
it’s quite quick to stitch, and is very practical for when I only want to stitch in short spurts.
Both you and Avis got a lot done! I love the colors too!
we did indeed ^^ but it’s stitching up really quickly.
Love the green! It’s all looking very pretty 🙂
thanks Avis ^^
Those sherbet colors are wonderful contrasts to the blackwork, Claire. The green was a happy surprise!
thanks Kathy – yup have chosen green & red as I plan on making this a Christmas piece.
I’d forgotten that, it will be perfect!
Ooh, I love the green squares, especially the one on the left. This is so pretty!
thanks Carole ^^ I’m liking each & every square so far.
I really like the contrast between the black and gold for the outline blackwork sections and the colored squares. Now I’m wondering what color will be chosen for the next line of squares!
thanks Connie. It’s actually a very dark Brown, not black ^^ And I won’t be adding any more colours. It’ll be red & green alternating from now on.
Love this is will be a Christmas themed project (read all the comments) Both yours and Avis are so different yet both gorgeous. Lots of great progress!!!
^^ design is going to be quite long & thin so I’ m thinking of a bell-pull or a table runner
I love this kind of work. I love the way it looks, and it was fun to do back in the day. 🙂
I love seeing blackwork done in bright colours although I do also appreciate the beauty when it’s done in monochrome
Such lovely details and the colors are so much fun. Are they quick to stitch?
oh yes, each little area is very quick to stitch, and ever so good for when you want to pick something up to work on in short spurts.
A very nice stitchy fix. Love the sound of that!
The colour change works really well !
Quite stunning! i agree that the colour change works well. Are there more colours to come?
I love your version as well!
I love blackwork, and even more when it’s done in a range of colours. I used to make Honiton lace, and occasionally would incorporate a metallic thread – oh, the controversy that raised!!
don’t you just love a bit of controversy lol.
I like your colors!
What a nice effect, Claire! You really have a lot of patience!
Hugs,Carmela
I love blackwork and the diversity of colour gives a very different effect. What colour next we wonder!
WOW! You’ve made great progress, and I love the colors you’re using.
Suprising how different yours and Avis’s look yet its only a matter of colours. They are both lovely and not sure whether i would stick to the more traditional black or go bright and cheerful like you. xx
