It’s ScrapHappy day again! Time to link with Gun, Kate and a whole gang of other crafters (all links further down), to share what we’ve been making with scraps.
I’d had wind of a couple of births in my neighbourhood, so it seemed like a good idea to make a couple of presents to welcome new babies into the world. Nothing elaborate. Just something soft & bright.
The teething bits are brand new but fabrics & wadding are scraps. Lots of souvenirs of past projects in these!

What a really super little gift for a new baby- just love them.
thanks Cathy ^^ One was gifted last week and I’m expecting a phone call any day now to say second baby has arrived!
fab gifts.
Great idea and we won’t blame you for using brand new teething rings – I doubt used ones would be welcome 😝
lol. I’m a bit annoyed with myself because, when I made some of the same a few years ago, I sewed crinkle paper and a squeaker Inside, so there were lots of things to keep baby interested. This time, Iforgot about the crinkle paper until it was too late, didn’t have any squeakers, so just added the teething bits. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts!
I’m glad you explained what they were for. Never having had children I didn’t realise they were for teething, I thought they were heat pads with fancy tags! Lucky babies 🙂
well yes, babies generally like to put things in their mouth, so that’s what the teething bit is for. Then they’ll have the fluffy texture on back to interest them (I hope) and lots of different colours with birds etc, to spot.
They’re really clever. It just went straight over my head, initially!
I like them!
I enjoyed making them, although it was a bit difficult getting the binding on correctly with the fluffy fabric on the back. I also like how so many past projects produced scraps that have interesting birds/insects/animals to spot.
Fluffy fabric is really hard to sew! It has a life of its own on the machine.
How cheerful – what a good idea!
Adorable and clever idea!
Those will be well used!
What a good idea! Where did you get the teething bits? I might have to make a couple for the new grandbaby we’re expecting. 😉
bought a load on etsy a few years ago.
great idea, soft and cuddly, almost as good as a teddy for a newborn.
What a cute and functional baby gift! I might just have to steal this idea from you. Another project going on my to-do list 😉
feel free to copy ^^ I usually add crinkle paper Inside, so it makes an interesting noise when baby plays with it, but I forgot this time.
What a great idea!
What a great idea for scraps and for a gift. I’m going to have to remember this for the future.
