Photos of another happy dance to share with you . . . of my first ever machine patchwork quilt, finally finished – yay!
Pieced in April & May 2013, but quilted and bound only recently.
Now it’s done, I wonder why it took me so long ^^ No, actually, I know why . . . I was very apprehensive about quilting this on my basic machine but, with my new Juki, all apprehension flew out the window and I just got on with it.
While small by some quilters standards, this is the largest quilt I’ve made so far. It measures 49” x 39”.
Backing fabric is a pale buttery cream, and I quilted in orange thread.
It’s the perfect side for my 2-seater couch, along with matching cushion . . . or . . .
a little on the short side, for the 3-seater couch ^^ Photos taken on couches (and in the veranda) were taken before washing, so you can still see chalk marks which I used as guide lines for quilting. They all disappeared in the wash ^^
The important thing is it’s finished and I’m now raring to go and make lots more.
One down, many more to come 🙂 What a fantastic job you did! I love evrything about it, especially the binding fabric which is gorgeous!!
yes I love the binding fabric – it finishes it off rather nicely ^^
Beautiful!
Oh, that lovely colour combination; a well deserved happy dance, I feel! That’s a Kaffe Fassett Millefiore in the brown colourway, isn’t it?
yes, it is Kate. Well spotted ^^
Pretty!!
That is fabulous! I love everything about it, but especially the binding. That is so pretty 🙂
thanks Carole, – yep the binding adds a bit of zing
It’s so beautiful! I love the colours 🙂
autumn is my favourite season hence all these lovely oranges
I love the colours! And quilting on a machine isn´t that hard once you tried it 🙂
no, but it’s feeling brave enough to begin that was difficult ^^
Lovely autumnal colours, looks fantastic
