“Five photos, five stories” #1

Avis, of Oh Sew Tempting, invited me to join the challenge of “Five photos, five stories”.

The rules are simple:  “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”.

Now, I’m not the world’s best photographer, in fact, my photography skills are very basic.  I just do a point and click, with no artistic idea of what I’m doing.  However, it is an opportunity to broaden my horizons a little, and write about things other than crafting, or my animals.

Here is my first photo – actually a scan of an artist’s portrait of yours truly ^^

We lived in the Paris area for a total of 20 years (first 7 years in the Yvelines, and then 13 years in Seine Saint Denis).  During that time, I visited Paris frequently, often when family or friends came to stay and wanted to do some sight-seeing.  Not being a tourist myself, I usually managed to refuse the offers of street artists with a polite “non merci”   each time I was in the more touristic quarters.  However, for some reason, in 2006, I agreed to pose.  Whether or not this looks anything like me, I’ll leave that for you to decide Rire

For my first nominee, I would like to nominate Amanda of Sew Deputy.  I’ve been following Amanda’s blog for some time now. She is an accomplished seamstress and such fun!  I had great pleasure in watching her on The Great British Sewing Bee and when I grow up, I would love to be able to sew half as well as she does ^^ Don’t feel you have to join in the challenge if you don’t want to, Amanda!

  1. My father still has the portrait a Montmartre street artist did of me on my first ever visit to Paris 30+ years ago. It’s not very like me, but he thinks it’s wonderful! I have no photo to compare against, so I can’t say if yours is like you, but they make nice souvenirs, don’t they?

    • there’s a small pic of me on my “about Claire” page lol. I think artist was being too flattering because he wanted to be paid, but then again, it’s a caricature, so maybe it does look something like me?
