Three weeks ago, Avis and I were proud to present photos of our finished SAL “Cirque des Cercles” but had already decided to begin a new project together and continue our Stitch-along. I showed you a photo of the new project
“Friendship Quilt V” a chart by Whispered by the Wind. Avis, of Sewing Beside the Sea, and I plan on stitching 25 little blocks to make a 5 x 5 design, using the 20 blocks in the chart and adding some of our own along the way.
We are also being joined by an ever-growing number of ladies who are motivated by our 3-weekly updates, and plan on showing their stitching projects grow too.
Here is my first stage completed.
I have begun top left and have already added a block not on the chart ^^ The blackwork one on the left is a blackwork filler from the ebook “Ensamplario Atlantio” by Janthé d’Averoigne.
Don’t forget to hop over to Sewing Beside the Sea, to see a totaly different approach ^^ and then to see what the other ladies are stitching.

Beautiful colours and already looking so different to Avis’ version! Can’t wait to see it grow and which blocks you choose to stitch.
yes colours makes a real difference, and it’s going to be a real surprise on each update
Love the blackwork! This is gonna be a great embrodery!

thank you Gun ^^
I love how you and Avis work on the same design but your results and choices are so different, each beautiful in its own way.
thanks Kate, this design really will be totally different: colour choices, layout, everything
Wow! Your version looks like spring time and mine is autumnal. By the time we finish it’ll probably be the summer LOL.
yours will be in Harvest colours and mine in Hallowe’en ^^
In May LOL
Lovely! I do like the blackwork block that you’ve inserted into the design. Are you planning to do all the extras in blackwork or do you have something else planned?
yes I’ll be stitching 5 blackwork “fillers”: one in each corner and one in the centre
Lovely work.
I love the blackwork square – it’s fun to see what you’ll do next 🙂
lovely work ladies.. happy SAL and i love this pattern you have chosen. 🙂
Oh wow, love that first block! Are you going to incorporate other forms of embroidery too?
it’s just going to be cross stitch and blackwork
Gorgeous start to you new SAL. I love the purple in it.
thanks Caitlin – I seem to have a “thing” for purple lol
Loving watching thus grow, really gorgeous combination
