While out shopping this morning, with my little granny trolley, in Lidl, I couldn’t help but notice a whole display area of colourful orchids. My other half loves flowers and plants of any kind but has never tried his hand at orchids although we did buy a dwarf orchid the other week while at local garden centre (that has already lost all its flowers but has a few new buds sprouting). Anyway, my little brain took note. I heard the lady at the till mention that they were selling like hotcakes. Hardly surprising because they were priced at just under 6 euros each and would cost at least three times that amount in a garden centre.
First thing I did when I wheeled my little trolley home was ask my husband “Do you fancy another orchid?” and off he zoomed ^^
I know nothing about orchids (or any other flowers for that matter) – so can only tell you that these are “Phalaenopsis” . . . and that hubbie came home with FIVE of them lol. For the moment they’re all lined up on a make-shift shelf above the TV (so that they’re safely out of the way of our four cats) but we’re already talking about making a special shelf for them where they’ll have more light.
Will also need to buy some nice pots to hide the plastic ones (like the little white one) – but all in good time.
Here are some close-ups of the different flowers – my favourite is the purple one ^^
That also had me looking at cross stitch kits with an orchid theme lol but I’ll try and resist giving into temptation.
